The workload in German companies is increasing—and with it, the question of how managers should distribute additional tasks. Ideally, they would distribute them fairly and equally among all employees. Unfortunately, however, managers tend not to assign additional tasks to employees who appear to have spare capacity—but rather to those who seem particularly motivated. After all, those who enjoy performing their core duties also seem open to taking on other (unattractive) additional tasks.
