Opinion: Lack of Transparency in AI Fuels Rumors and a Negative Image
Quite a few CEOs do not honestly inform their employees, customers, and shareholders about why they are using AI—and where the cost savings actually go, if they are achieved at all. This breeds mistrust and resistance toward the new technology. In practice, AI is often used as a Band-Aid for processes that aren’t working well—without actually improving them. On top of that, this is sometimes concealed or glossed over. This does nothing to foster a positive image of AI.
Furthermore, even when significant AI-driven cost savings are achieved, a large portion of those savings is reinvested in ongoing, expensive AI licenses from external providers—and, first and foremost, in establishing a functional and data-secure AI infrastructure within the company. And often, these savings are still far from being channeled into employee profit-sharing or lower customer prices. However, such developments must also be better communicated rather than hidden…
