Inclusion: On average, more jobs and higher revenue—but it’s not a sure thing
Social goals and economic success are not mutually exclusive. Inclusive measures within a company (accommodations for people with disabilities, older adults, or refugees…) open the door to new groups of employees, increase the company’s appeal in the labor market, and, when first implemented, are positively correlated with revenue and employment. But inclusion does not happen on its own. Diversity only becomes a competitive advantage when companies actively integrate it into their work organization and value creation. A single measure is not enough—what matters most are the structures that support it…
