Apprentices: Generation Alpha Is Once Again Seeking More Personal Contact

The “Gen Alpha” members—born in 2010 or later and soon to enter the workforce—apparently use Instagram less to search for an apprenticeship than the “Gen Z” members, who were born earlier. The study “Apprentice Recruitment Trends 2026” finds that very young people are instead returning to traditional sources such as teachers and information provided by schools; rather than searching job boards or company websites, those who are 16 and younger today apparently find more guidance for their future in face-to-face conversations.
The differences between men and women are also striking. Girls and young women tend to apply for apprenticeship positions only after they have met a number of requirements—while boys are more likely to take the initiative. During their training, women do tend to feel more stressed than young men—and they’re more likely to want to work from home…
